Volunteers are absolutely essential to the continued success of the Riverside Kingsmen Band and Color Guard program. Below, you will see a quick snapshot of some of the tasks that are needed for the school year. Please take time to read the descriptions and check the boxes of those activites that interest you the most. Interests
Uniform Fitting Assist the committe chairs with assigning and fitting uniforms during the summer months.
Uniform Maintenance Assist the committe chairs with general uniform maintenance during the school year.
Grooming You will travel to events and assist in cleaning shoes with polish sponges and cleaning uniforms with lint rollers. You should also be willing to help tuck hair under shakos.
Sewing After fitting, many uniforms need to be altered to fit our members correctly.
Chaperone We require chaperones at all events that the program attends. You will generally ride the bus with the students.
Pit Crew Assist in moving large percussion instruments onto and off of the field. You may be asked to help load/unload our trucks.
Driver We need vehicles that are willing/capable of towing our trailers to/from events. Although our trailers are set up for 4-pin wiring, you would be better equiped if you have a brake controller and a 7-pin connector.
Concessions We feed the students before and during many events. You will be part of a team that prepares and serves meals.
RK Event Help This encompasses all of our hosted events, including a band review and field show during the fall, and color guard and drum line events during the spring. All of these events require alot of help. You could be assigned to do anything from bus check-in to parking control. The dates will be given well in advance.
Winter Guard Helper Attend winter guard events and help where needed.
Drum Line Helper Attend spring drumline shows and help where needed.
Donations Assist the program in securing donations of needed funding and supplies.
Photography Photograph band reviews, field shows, concerts, and any other event that you are willing to attend. You must have your own equipment and be willing to burn a cd/dvd for the webmaster.
Videography Videotape band reviews, field shows, concerts, and any other event that you are willing to attend. You must have your own equipment and be willing to work with the webmaster to get clips placed on the website.
First Aid Attend events and be the point of contact for all medical emergencies. Please note that you are required to have a current license in the state of California as an EMT, RN, PA, DO or MD in order to assist with first aid. Please tell us your qualifications in the "other" section below.
